Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Sunday said his country is to "re-invigorate" its ties with the African continent and strengthen "south-south" cooperation.
Singh made the remarks before he left here for a tour of Nigeria and South Africa.
The Indian prime minister is scheduled to attend the second India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) summit during his five-day stay in the continent.
In his departure statement, the Indian prime minister said "as developing countries with a similar historic experience, we face common challenges of nation building."
"There is much that India and Africa have to do together for the betterment of our peoples," Singh added.
