Zhejiang Economic and Information Technology Commission and the Finance Bureau of Zhejiang Province issued recently the Implementing Measures for Zhejiang s Financial Subsidies for Energy Efficient Lighting Products Promotion in 2010, which promises to promote the use of 8 million energy-saving lamps by offering 30% to 50% subsidy.
According to statistics, China s lighting consumption currently accounts for 12% of all electricity consumption. The substitution of energy-saving lamps for all incandescent lamps in use would save 48 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) every year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 48 million tons.
