A few days ago, the Price Bureau of Zhejiang Province and Zhejiang Office of State Electricity Regulatory Commission jointly issued a notice that Zhejiang will charge punitively higher electricity prices for excessively high energy-consuming products so as to further save energy and lower energy consumption through the price lever.
All products whose energy consumption exceeds the national and local per-unit energy consumption (electricity consumption) quota will be subject to the punitive electricity prices. Power surcharges for products whose energy consumption is less than twice of the quota will be 0.1 yuan per kilowatt hour, in accordance with the standard for firms that fall into the restricted category. Power surcharges for products whose energy consumption is more than twice of the quota will be 0.3 yuan per kilowatt hour, in accordance with the standard for firms in the to-be-eliminated category.
It is learnt that in the first half of this year, electricity consumption of the whole society in Zhejiang rose by 20.6%. The growth rate increased by 21.8% compared with the same period last year and was ranked top among the six provinces and one municipality directly under the Central Government in Eastern China.
