The 11th tropical storm Fanapi has formed in the northwestern Pacific Ocean on the night of September, 15th and may affect Zhejiang Province in the next few days. It is learned from the provincial flood control and drought relief headquarters that the level four emergence response for typhoon has been launched on the afternoon of September, 16th. Areas which might be affected by the typhoon were required to launch emergency responses in accordance with contingency plans for typhoon and take effective measures to prevent the damage caused by Fanapi.
At 17 o clock on September, 16th, the eye of Fanapi was 1000 kilometers southeast of Zhejiang (latitude 21.7 degrees north longitude 128.3 degrees east). And top wind speed near the center reached force 11. According to the forecast made by meteorological departments in China, the U.S. and Japan that, Fanapi is still strengthening and the eye of the storm will be moving northward at a speed of 5 to 10 kilometers per hour towards the eastern coast of China.
