On the afternoon of September 14th, Xia Baolong, Vice-Secretary of CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee met with the delegation led by Wu Zhiyang, mayor of Taoyuan County, Taiwan in Hangzhou.
Xia Baolong extended a warm welcome to Wu Zhiyang and his delegation and briefed them on the economic and social development in Zhejiang. He said that in recent years, Zhejiang and Taiwan have witnessed more and more economic, cultural and personnel exchange. Taoyuan, as an important gateway, has played a very positive role in the communication between Zhejiang and Taiwan. With the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) coming into effect, another important step has been taken toward the normalization and institutionalization of the economic relations across the Straits. Both parties should take advantage of this opportunity to promote exchanges in the fields of economy, trade and culture, thus creating a win-win situation in their cooperation and development.
Wu Zhiyang showed his gratitude to the host s warm reception. He said that since the start of direct cross-Straits flight, Taoyuan and Zhejiang have seen a closer contact and he expected to expand and strengthen cooperation and communication with Zhejiang in the future.
