Jiaxing's GDP in 2010 was 229.6 billion yuan (approximately $34.787 billion), rising by 13.7% in terms of comparable price. The primary, secondary and tertiary industry increased by 3.3%, 15.4% and 12.5% respectively last year.
Last year industrial output value of industrial enterprises above the designated scale reached 513.75 billion yuan, rising by 39.8% over the previous year, while that of manufacturing industry reached 467.659 billion yuan, rising by 42.5%.The six major sectors of textiles, electrical, chemical fiber, chemical engineering, general equipment, and metallurgical industry contributed 52.9% to the growth.
The main business income of industrial enterprises above the designated scale in Jiaxing reached 489.9 billion yuan, the total profits and taxes was 45.645 billion yuan, and the total profit was 31.11 billion yuan, rising by 37.8%, 43.7% and 61.5%respectively, with year on year growth rate of percentage as35.2, 18.2 and 16.2.
In addition, the growth in import and export recovered rapidly in 2010.The total value of import and export was $22.82 billion, rising by 32.6% and by 45.9% on a year-on-year basis. Compared with that of 2008 ($19.833 billion), it grew by 15%, rising by 7.2 annually.
It is more interesting to notice the rapid growth of investment in tertiary industry. Statistics shows that the year on year growth rate of investment in the primary, the secondary and tertiary industry above norm was 20%12.3%, and 34.6% respectively. Among them, the total investment in the producer services was 17.
24 billion yuan, increasing by37.8%, 16.5 higher than investment in the above norm projects. Meanwhile, private investment was very active, with a private investment of 95.855 billion yuan in above norm projects, rising by 22.3%, with year on year increase of12.1% and 12.1% respectively.
2010 was the last year of "Eleventh Five-Year", in which Jiaxing has witnessed great economic development. However, Jiaxing is currently faced with various uncertainties while both the world and Chinese economy are recovering slowly. Mr Jiang Dong, the general statistician, spokesman of Municipal Statistics Bureau of Jiaxing, said that in 2011, we must enhance transferring of mode of econmomic development, accelerate restructuring economy, and vigorously strengthen the independent innovation and energy saving, to strive to protect and improve the people's livelihood and promote coordinated economic and social development
