In the " Innovation Cities in Mainland China " List lately released by Forbes business magazine, Jiaxing is ranked among the 25 most innovative cities !
Zhou Jian, editor-in-Chief of Chinese version of Forbes points out: at the critical stage where cities go through from size-orientated growth to quality-orientated development, innovative ability has become a key variable in a new round of competition. Jiaxing outdoes its equivalents in building high-level platforms and associations, introducing innovative resources from famous universities and institutes, and globally allocating talent resources.
When sycamore effect eventually comes, it has formed a regional innovation system which is an integration of production, teaching and research, guided by the market, with enterprises as main players. This innovation strengthens the driving force of the city.
Starting from 2008, Jiaxing Municipal Party Committee Organization department took the lead in the province by launching the talent plan of the Shining stars in Nanhu , which is destined to let more technical talents shine in Jiaxing --- Nanhu. At present, the high-level talented people unceasingly rush in Jiaxing.
The Jiaxing science and technology Town alone attracts 125 people with doctor degree, 165 personnel with master s degree, 136 experts with senior technical titles, and 8 part-time academicians of the Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese Academy of Engineering. At present, the city s high-level talents and skilled experts totaled 15,000 and 90,000 respectively, increasing 113% and 80%respectively compared to the year of 2004, with two scholars entering the national One thousand-People Plan , and 4 entering the provincial plan of Introduction of High-level Overseas .
