The end of the year draws near with the latest heartening statistics from Jiaxing Economic and Trade Commission: in the first 11 months of 2010, the output value created by industrial enterprises above designated size totaled 456.743 billion yuan, up 40.1 percent over the same period of the previous year, coming first in the provincial growth rate of industry.
Top priority has been given to accelerating the development of characteristic industries since the beginning of this year. By actively implementing ten projects of 10 billion-yuan , 360 directional projects of Five-One " and 128 key projects of 100 thousand-yuan , city government took pains to create big platforms, upgrade leading industries, build large-scale projects and develop large enterprises, which results in more competitive industrial enterprises and higher additional value of products.
In the first three quarters of this year, the city s 225 reporting enterprises netted 5.65 billion yuan of profits, up 97.7 percent over the same period last year, and 20 percent of the enterprises saw their profit rate exceeded 100%
A relevant official from Jiaxing Economic and Trade Commission said that a New Energy industry has been fostered in the city, featuring in biological energy, bio-diesel, solar energy, etc. with 60% of its total output value coming from solar energy. The emerging enterprises represented by New Energy, New Material, energy-saving and environmentally-friendly resources, and biological medicine develop quickly, which upgrades the industrial structure and boosts the economic transformation of the city.
