Wei Hong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Provincial Committee and Deputy Governor of Sichuan Province, met with Jean-Luc Vanraes, Vice-Minister of the Brussels-Capital Region, Belgium and his delegation.
A 22-people government and enterprise delegation headed by Jean-Luc Vanraes, Vice-Minister of the sister city Brussels-Capital Region, Belgium who is in charge of foreign relations, finance and budget paid a friendly visit to Sichuan Province from September 15th to 18th.
In the afternoon of the 16th, Wei Hong, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Deputy Governor of Sichuan Province, met with Jean-Luc Vanraes, Vice-Minister of the Brussels-Capital Region, Belgium and his delegation in the provincial government. The two sides exchanged views and reached consensus on establishing a long-term cooperation mechanism, strengthening friendly exchanges between the governments and promoting exchanges and cooperation between enterprises of the two provinces on the basis of exchange platform of sister provinces.
Xue Kang, Deputy Secretary-General of the provincial government also attended the meeting.
During the visit, the delegation visited the Chengdu Panda Base, Innovation Center of European Union Project and headed for Mianzhu and Hanwang earthquake-stricken areas to inspect reconstruction of Sichuan Province. Enterprises from Brussels conducted business talks and docking discussions with Sichuan enterprises.
Foreign Affairs Office for Sichuan Provincial People s Government, according to the proposals of the leaders from both sides, held detailed discussion with the delegation on establishing a long-term cooperation mechanism between the two provinces. The two sides have reached primitive consensus in carrying out cooperation on education, tourism, finance, investment, environment and other fields.
Delegation of Sichuan Province is scheduled to pay a return visit to Brussels-Capital Region in October or November during which official cooperation agreements will be signed.
