Regulations to help 'old established brands'
Local authorities are formulating regulations to protect the intellectual property, traditional skills, trade secrets, craftsmanship and business operations of old established brands in the city, according to the commission of commerce and traditional brands association.
A government fund to reward traditional brands with outstanding performance will also be established, according to the plan.
Due to low awareness about intellectual property protection, some old brands failed to register their trademarks abroad and later found the marks had already been registered by overseas rivals, according to a recent study by China University of Political Science and Law.
