The Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (GAGOC) has announced that it will unveil the official theme song of the Games on September 30 during a special evening gala, which will be broadcast live on Guangzhou TV.
On August 4 when the Games celebrated its 100-day countdown, GAGOC named three theme song shortlists: "Reunion", "Sunshine again" and "Glorious presence" (listen). Then Dayoo.com, a major portal in South China under the Guangzhou Daily Newspaper Group, launched an online poll for the public to make their choices and over one million votes have been cast. The deadline for voting is 12pm, September 28.
Over the past three years, the solicitation campaign for Asian Games songs has received more than 1,600 entries, among which, 36 have been released as selected songs for the Games. A 10-song shortlist for the theme song had been announced before "Reunion", "Sunshine again" and "Glorious presence" emerged as the final candidates.
