The ASIAD food festival, initially scheduled to closed on November 14th, was forced to closed yesterday (November 8th) due to the unexpected and overwhelming number of visitors. The sheer numbers of people turned the event into a security hazard and so the organizers announced that instead, smaller food festivals would be held at sub-venues across Guangzhou municipality.
Liuhua Complex, the main venue of the festival, had set-up crowd control measure but these proved inefficient. On Saturday (November 6th), the event attracted over 30,000 visitors in just one day.
The food festival sub-event shall be held in Guangzhou's 10 districts and 2 county-level cities.
