Thirty-two Shenzhen companies found their names in the list of Guangdong s top 100 enterprises for revenue and size last year, announced by the provincial economic commission Sunday.
Huawei Technologies, the Shenzhen-based telecom giant, jumped to second place from the previous year s fifth, with revenue reaching 149.25 billion yuan (US$21.95 billion) last year. It is also ranked No. 1 in China s top 100 electronics companies.
Six of the 100 Guangdong heavyweights each recorded revenue of more than 100 billion yuan, including three Shenzhen companies Huawei, Ping An Insurance and Foxconn. The six companies contributed to a quarter of the total revenue of the top 100, which exceeded 3.1639 trillion yuan. The threshold for Guangdong s top 100 enterprises last year was 8.29 billion yuan in revenue, 490 million yuan more than 2008.
At least 78 percent of the 100 companies are based in Guangzhou and Shenzhen. The remaining firms are in eight other Pearl River Delta cities.Shenzhen took 33 places in the list of top 100 Guangdong companies in 2008.
