NPC Member Yan Xijun: pharmaceutical enterprises should have high sense of responsibility

2nd Meeting of 11th NPC Congress closed on Mar.13th, 2009. NPC member Yan Xijun accepted interview by Xinhua net before the closing ceremony.

XinhuaNet Beijing Mar.13th: NPC member and Director of Board of Tasly Group Yan Xijun stated that it needs both high sense of responsibility of pharmaceutical enterprises and the supervision system to avoid quality problems of medicine during the special interview on two conferences by Xinhua net.

Mentioning recently quality problems of medicine, Mr. Yan pointed out two reasons. Firstly, the medicine is not maintained well. He said that medicine needs to be maintained and stored according to relative standard during the whole process.

Secondly, medicine is not used according to the standard. Take TCM injection as example. One kind of TCM may contain more than three active ingredients which may cause difficulty in judging chemical reaction and it would result in adverse reaction such as drug allergy and fever. Therefore, doctors should have full knowledge about medicine mixing and we manufacturers should improve medicine description to instruct the doctor in using medicine.

Mr. Yan Xijun pointed out that medicine which is a special commodity is related to life and health of human directly. Pharmaceutical enterprises should have high sense of responsibility to ensure medicine quality reach the standard. He emphasized systemic training to staffs in order to apply the national standard to manufacture process to endure standard operation of various procedures such as purchase and storage.

He recommended that China should set up a full-scale medicine supervision system and there should be special technicians to study medicine control system which should be updated once in one year or two years to keep up to market changes. He said that medicine supervision equipment should be advanced and the supervision organization should find out the reasons once there is any problem with prompt action.
