China s first super-giant heat exchanger made by CFHI

Zhenhai circulation gas cooler, a shell type heat exchanger with the largest exchanging area has been successfully manufactured in CFHI Dalian base. This exchanger was developed, designed and manufactured by CFHI independently. Many of its technologies have filled the vacancies in their respective fields. It was examined by the CPC expert panel and supervisors from Nanjing Sanfang Chemical Ltd. and went through the acceptance inspection at one trial.

The Zhenhai circulation gas cooler is the key sector of the mega-tonnage per year ethane generator. For this kind of giant heat exchanger, there is no precedent record of engineering and manufacture among Chinese petrochemical equipment manufacturers. And only a few foreign companies have such capability. Along with the fast development of China s petrochemical and steel industries, demand of giant heat exchangers is experiencing a rapid rise; however, their supply can only rely on importation.

To break the monopoly of foreigner companies, CFHI engineering personnel has made technical exchange with Zhenhai Refinery Ltd. and Tianjin Petrochemical Ltd. many times since the beginning of 2007. It proposed several engineering and manufacturing options for examination by Chinese specialists and finally got their acknowledgement. Thus CFHI earned the certificate to design and manufacture this giant exchanger E-6111 of Zhenhai Refinery Ltd.

In order to ensure the localization of this equipment, CFHI has setup 15 key points for research and development, such as welding and expanded jointing technology of double-class exchange tubes, sequences of fitting and fabrication, local heat treatment, etc. The successful development of this heat exchanger has yet testified China s ability in equipment manufacturing industry and promoted our innovative competence in manufacturing petrochemical equipment.

It pushed forward the localization process of mega-tonnage per year ethane generators. Meanwhile, it expanded the developmental space for CFHI, strengthened its core competitiveness and guaranteed a sound and sustainable development.
