On 24th July 2009, a Western Australian delegation led by Premier Mr. Colin Barnett visited Liaoning Zhongwang Group at Liaoyang, Liaoning Province.
The guests, accompanied by Liaoyang s top officials including Party Secretary Mr. Sun Yuanliang and Mayor Mr. Tang Zhiguo, were warmly welcomed and received by Zhongwang Chairman Mr. Liu Zhongtian.
Mr. Liu took the guests on a site tour of Zhongwang s manufacturing facilities, including the smelting and casting plant for special alloys, the extrusion plant, the R&D centre and the packing plant for exported profiles. The Western Australian visitors were very impressed with what they saw.
In his welcome statement, Mr. Sun Yuanliang, Liaoyang s Party Secretary, said that the fact that Mr. Colin Barnett made a special visit to Liaoning Zhongwang Group during his visit in Liaoning Province demonstrated the importance the Premier attached to Zhongwang. He further pointed out that Western Australia is an economically developed state with abundant resources in Australia; Perth, the capital city of Western Australia, is known as one of the World s Most Livable Cities. He commented that the Western Australian state enjoys a high degree of complementarity in economic development with Liaoyang city particularly given the latter s strong competitiveness in construction and industrial aluminium profile sectors. Zhongwang has long-standing trading relations with Western Australian shipyards. Mr. Sun noted that the sound international reputation and cooperative trading relations that had been established during this long-standing cooperation would certainly pave the way for even more promising cooperation between the two sides.
Mr. Colin Barnett thanked Liaoning Zhongwang Group and the government of Liaoyang city for their warm hospitality and expressed his hope for intensified cooperation with Liaoning Zhongwang Group and the city of Liaoyang in various fields.
