APAIE 2011 Conference and Exhibition Was Held in Taiwan

During March 9-12, 2011, APAIE 2011 Conference and Exhibition was held in Taipei, Taiwan. SJTU Vice President Wu Dan attended the conference at the invitation of Lee Si-Chen, President of National Taiwan University, and attended the president round-table meeting, the theme of which is "higher education and enterprises: interaction and internationalization". APAIE conference and exhibition is an international conference established by Asia-Pacific Association of Higher Education and was held annually in the Asia-Pacific region since 2006. This conference was hosted by National Taiwan University and was attended by over 600 university representatives from countries including China, Japan, Korea, America, Germany, France, Thailand, Singapore, Australia and Turkey and regions including Hong Kong and Taiwan.

At the conference, Vice President Wu Dan officially met with Lee Si-Chen, President of National Taiwan University, Wu Yan-hwa, President of National Chiao Tung University and Guo Wei, President of City University of Hong Kong respectively and exchanged views on future bilateral cooperation.

During the visit to Taiwan, Vice President Wu Dan also visited Taiwan Lite-On Technology Corporation and attended the signing ceremony of Letter of Intent on Cooperation with Lite-On Clean Energy Technology. Founded in 1975, Lite-On Technology Corporation has become one of the world's top five optical enterprises. 80% of its subsidiary products rank top three in the global market share, which are widely applied in industries of communications, consumer electronics, and automotive, etc. Both sides will cooperate more closely on the scientific research and exemplary application in the areas of the electric cars, green energy and energy-saving buildings.

During the visit in Taiwan, Vice President Wu Dan also had a courtesy visit to people of Continental Engineering Corporation and of all works of life who have long cared about and supported the development and construction of SJTU including.

The visiting delegation included Yin Chengliang, Assistant Dean of Institute of Automotive Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, Li Dongyun, Deputy Director of Infrastructure Construction Office, Yin Jie, Deputy Director of Development and Liaison Office, and Yao Yi, Deputy Director of Office for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs.
