The mood of Anjuna and Ankita’s Fall/Winter’09 collection was ‘Structured de Construction’. It was set on a beautiful story of a young girl’s first crush in winter and scenic stroll in the park on an autumn day, treading softly on fallen leaves.
The colour story was youthful, earthy, happy, and fluid, with hints of blue green and burgundy. Pleating and tucking was juxtaposed with the soft silky appeal of herring bone and pashmina weave fabrics. The designer used silk, chiffon and wool.
The surface treatment was innovatively executed and placed over the garment using sequin work and ombre dye.
Dresses and gowns were interspersed with jackets, both structured and unstructured, some draped with scarf like renderings, which gave it a unique movement.
Ayesha Mohan lead actress of ‘Gulaal’ was the show stopper, wearing a jacket made from textiles woven by weavers once affected by leprosy.
The collection was quirky, fun, stylish and contemporary.
