The double Milanese appointment for Textile and Garment Outsourcing

The double Milanese appointment for Textile and Garment Outsourcing

Write: Naveen [2011-05-20]

INTERTEXMILANO, International Textile Exhibition for textile (fabrics and yarns)and READY TO SHOW, International Clothing Sourcing Exhibition for clothing and knitwear just completed its 16th edition. They have become more and more, edition after edition, a reference point of the Italian Fabrics Week !

First of all, the offers were very diversified and certainly not a trade show of only Chinese production !

In fact, the novelty of this last edition has been the jump ahead of India with a collective participation guided by the Apparel Export Promotion Council (A.E.P.C.) with ,any qualified suppliers in particular women’s wear and children’s wear.

After India and China there is Bangladesh, Tunisia, but also Pakistan, Japan, The Mauritius, Moldavia and Macedonia, to name a few.

92 collections for 70 booths (different agents/ Italian importers with different collections in addition to collective booths)

Secondly, for the clothing and knitwear part i.e. READY TO SHOW, it has become more important than the textile part, INTERTEXMILANO, due to the participation of numerous vertically integrated groups which offer full services from fabrics to finished products (China and Turkey especially)

As regards the visitors present this edition : 1,890. We have to note that there is a slight drop of Italians (1,580 , -9%) and on a smaller participation of foreign buyers (-3% ) coming mainly from Western Europe.

Top sellers :

- Cashmere knitwear (specially for women and babies/newly born)

- Children’s wear

- Men’s shirting (fabrics and finished products)

- Fashion accessories (scarves, bags…)

- Coats/ suits for men and women

- Jackets (specially down jackets)

A statistical analysis of the Italian participation allowed us to filter the geography of the Italian clothing industry interested in outsourcing.

Certainly influenced by the fact that the exhibition was organised in Milan, in first place comes the region of Lombardy with around 50% of visitors. After though, the division is quite logical with Friuli /Venice/ Giulia with 11%, Tuscany with 10%, Piemonte with 9% followed by Emilia Romagna and Campania.

As for the typology of visitors, a strong consideration emerges: sourcing is becoming fundamental for companies, and one can note this by the high percentage of Presidents or anyhow managers at high levels present at the exhibitions.

One can also notice the professionalism of the outsourcing function with different managers so called Outsourcing Managers and Operational Managers, that goes to demonstrate the arising professions created by the globalization of the clothing production.

Under the same profile, the conference organised by S.G.T global leaders in quality control, on the new techniques of production follow up and quality control brought together a vast number of participants including directors of numerous Italian leaders in the sector.

The next appointment for INTERTEXMILANO & READY TO SHOW is fixed from September 9th to the 11th , 2009 , always at the Palazzo delle Stelline Exhibition and Convention Center in Milan city center.

In the meantime, T.D.F. will organise collective as well as individual sourcing missions in loco, in China and Tunisia, especially in occasion of TEXMED (from the 10th to the 12th of July,2009), of which T.D.F. is the exclusive agent in Italy.

We remain at your disposal for any further information and photos of the fair and the complete text of the S.G.T. presentation.
