Men's fashion got a mix of the orient with the crafts of India when the designing duo, Dev R Nil presented "The Jigsaw" collection aimed at the international male during the Lakme Fashion Week for the Spring/Summer 2009 season.
Using chikan kari to create subtle textures along with batik printing to achieve unusual jigsaw patterns; the pair used silk Lurex, satin, linen/viscose blends, stretch cotton and jacquards in colours which were rather vibrant for men's wear. There was black and white with grey, but there was also sap green, pink, blue and mauve which were all very carefully put together so as not to jar with the designs.
The garments included jackets, pleated trousers, slim pants, shorts, shirts and Tees that all came together to create a comprehensive men's wear wardrobe. The cube print appeared through out the collection in different colour tones or as cutwork along with the grid batik design.
