Blankets produced in Turkey are sold in 55 countries in the world, including many countries in Europe, Africa and South Africa.
The Turkish blanket sector with a 25 million production quantity reached an amount of US $350 million. As 98 percent of the blanket productions in Turkey are realized in Usak, 16-18 million of cotton woven blankets are produced in Usak and around 7 million pieces printed blankets in plush look are produced in different provinces. Usak became the center of the blanket production.
Since 21 years Sesli Textile is producing blankets in Usak and exporting 60 percent of their production to 55 countries. Sesli Group owns the biggest blanket factory in Europe and its turnover is more than $50 million.
Sesli is one of the biggest producers in Turkey and one of the five majors in the world. Also Target and Wal-Mart is producing blanket with their brands. At the moment 58 blanket producers are registered to the International Blanket Union in Turkey.
As 98 percent of the blankets are produced in Usak, 90 percent of the are exported and 10 percent sold to the local market, that means, 1.5 million pieces monthly, 16-18 million yearly . The woven blanket production is around $125-150 million. With 7 million pieces printed blankets production, the total output reaches 25 million at the value of $350 million.
Finally, the basic normal blankets are thin woven; the printed blankets are in plush look and soft.
