As per recent statistics, Vietnam’s textile industry imported cotton materials worth 22,300 tons in volume and US $28.1 million in value during January 2007.
These figures were up 55.9 percent and 63.2 percent respectively from December 2006. As compared with January 2006, cotton imports grew 105.9 percent in volume and 118.7 percent in value.
According to industry experts, high volume of import indicates that there will be growth in production of textile goods for export purposes in coming months.
