Ministry sources released, China-British trade amounted to 10.172 billion pounds in January-July 2006, an increase of 22.51 percent from the same period in 2005, according to the British Customs statistics.
UK import from China registered 8.34 billion pounds, up 22.20 percent; UK export to China recorded 1.833 billion pounds, rising 24.02 percent; British deficit was 6.507 billion pounds, 21.69 percent higher on a year-on-year basis.
The major commodities UK imported from China in January-July 2006 are:
Textile and garments (1.2 billion pounds), miscellaneous processed products (1.121 billion pounds), office equipment (952 million pounds), the electronic machinery and equipment (704 million pounds).
The main products UK exported to China are:
Metal ores and metal scrap (213 million pounds), the electronic machinery and equipment (157 million pounds), power generating machinery and equipment (156 million pounds), and industrial machinery and equipment (155 million pounds).
