Hot stuff for winter

This winter's fashion trend is focused on the natural, the casual and the colourful. African style is in this season, and many designers incorporate the iconic colours of the continent yellow, brown, orange, red, green, blue and white in their clothing.

The basic wear, as usual, uses comfortable and natural fabrics such as cotton and wool. High-tech fabric, which is waterproof, windproof and breathable, is used for the exterior layers.

Pure cotton shirts and woollen knitwear with classic colourful stripes are still in.

Replacing the loose-fitting shirts of 2005, the form-fitting cut that outlines the masculine figure became a new trend in men's shirts this season.

Look for leather and courderouy shoulder and elbow pads on knitwear. Dual-coloured twill corduroy is becoming a symbol of manhood as the weather gets colder. In addition to pullover knitwear with the traditional zip-up neckline, button-up necklines are also becoming trendy because they sport a casual yet refined look.

Classic-style jackets go nicely with different articles of clothing. As the weather gets colder, look for detachable fur collars and large leather inlays. Many brands are coming out with new coats for extremely cold weather. The Paul & Shark Alaska series is made with double-layered down lining covered by outer fabric that is waterproof and extremely breathable.

Casual pants dominate this season's collections and are available in cotton, denim and corduroy. Brightly coloured trousers featuring intense hues of red, green and orange as well as duller earthtones such as brown, beige and blue can create different looks depending on how they are matched with other articles of clothing.

Femininity and chicness are the main themes of women's wear this season.

Ornate floral patterns intricately traced out in beads and sequins around the necklines of shirts and the waists of jeans highlight the femininity of this year's women's winter wear. Cropped jackets with slim waistlines accentuate the alluring curve of the female body.

Other popular designs of the season include cropped wool trousers and denim jeans as well as flashy velvet pants that look chic and elegant with boots and a slim jacket.
