Jewish-American, Adam Neiman, founder of the Sweatshop-free Apparel manufacturer Bienestar International, has recently set up a joint venture with a unionized Bethlehem factory to create a new line of yoga wear with international distribution.
His effort to set up the joint venture, which will provide work for young Palestinians has received the highest accolades from all quarters.
By offering decent jobs overseas, Neiman hopes that this will put young Palestinian guns on the right track with a sense of purpose, community and humanity.
Palestinian-Christian Elias Alarja, co-owner of the Bethlehem plant, has employed more than 100 unionized workers and 120 sub-contracted unionized workers.
Neiman is to roll out his organic or fair-trade cotton yoga line from the Bethlehem factory, Arja Textile & Co on the second day of Chanukah in Israel.
With 'ethical threads' in London in March of 2007, and the United States next September, Neiman will now revive the interest of major Jewish retailers in London and New York City.
Bienestar International, which produces clothing and footwear under the label No Sweat, has a little over 130 retail outlets around the world, such as Cambridge Naturals in Porter Square s shopping center and The Garment District, also in Cambridge.
