The media reported that to promote Sri Lanka's fashion export, Sri Lanka is probing into the possibility of free fashion trade with Canada, the negotiation has been carried out in Canada.
Due to the competition from some undeveloped countries enjoy Canada's favorable trade just as Bengal and China,India,Vietnam etc,Canada is a market that Sri Lanka can not enter into. Therefore,Sri Lanka is anticipating to export high quality fashion and is trying to win the competition with above countries by depending on the advantage of high labor standard.
The data shows that in Sri Lanka, about 1million people are employing in Sri Lanka fashion industry while about 90%products are exported to US, EU. During January to July, Sri Lanka's fashion export is increased by 4% , export reaching 1.32billion USD, especially the one exported to EU being increased by 9.4%.
