The newest report from Cambodia Business Department claim that since the year and half, Cambodia fashion export is not only affected by the scrap of global textile quota, but increase steadily.
The statistic issued by Cambodia business department show that 2005 total export of Cambodia reach $2.2billion, increased by 9.6%. However, in the April of this year, the one is $0.689billion, increased by 26.4%.
The official of Cambodia Business Department said that Cambodia experts have ever worried that Chinas fashion exported to Occident will rise and affect the export of Cambodia fashion due to the scrap of global textile quota in January.1,2005. However, in May,2005, US take new restriction measures on China textile to avoid the disadvantageous effect on Cambodia fashion process & export made by the scrap of textile quota.
For over one year, some fashion factories in Cambodia are closed, but more new one is established. Recently, there are at least 250 fashion factories that have bigger and bigger scale in Cambodia. Besides, nearly 300000workers is employing fashion process.
