Peru National Industry Association, Lima Chamber of Commerce and National Textile Industry Owner Union applied to Peru State Competition& Intelligent Right Bureau to demand investigation on textile& fashion imported from China and carry out trade protection measures.
The president of Peru National Industry Association Textile Committee pointed out that during January to August, Peru imported total 5062 ton textile and fashion from China, increased by 23 doubles compared with the same period of 2004. China textile and fashion s perception in total textile & fashion are increased to 72% from 6% in 2004. At this speed, China s textile and fashion will reach over 7900ton.
According to procedure, once Peru National Competition & Intellect Right Protection Bureau accepts the application, it will carry out investigation and make final decision within three months. However, this department has not made any argument on this issue until now.
Peru is one of countries who take protective trade and anti-dumping measures on China product. In December,2003, Peru government took special temporary protection measures on 106 categories of textile and fashion for 200 days, which leaded to 30million USD to 40million USD loss of China.
