Senegal s Minister of Commerce Ministry Diop recently expressed in Dakar that Senegal warmly welcomed Chinese enterprises to invest and set up factories, to develop cotton-processing and textile industries, and to build up capital Dakar to be the textile products distribution center in West African region.
West African region is Africa's main cotton-producing area, the cotton quality is rather good and of low cost. Senegal hopes to cooperate with China for processing cotton, and selling cotton textiles to the regional and international markets.
Although Senegal s textile groundwork is weak, the amount of employees is over a million. Like many African countries, Senegal has to import part of textiles to fill domestic consumption need. Therefore, Senegal expects to utilize China s technology of cotton-processing and textile to lower production cost, and to boost its textile competition ability, meanwhile, to satisfy nation s demand.
