Malaysia : Clothing brands turn to environment friendly espousal

Surf and skate brands are increasingly embracing eco-friendly materials, the trend is just scratching the surface of the $3billion (RM11.4billion) per year US action sports clothing and shoe businesses.
Since environmentalism resurfaced, clothing makers are showcasing apparel featuring fabrics like organic cotton, hemp, bamboo and also shoes made with less toxic materials in San Diego.
Companies that outfit surfers are using environment friendly materials as they are very concerned about polluted beaches and coastal damage due to surfer fashion. Changes were visible even in surfboard manufacturing, a notoriously toxic business dependent on foam, fiberglass and resins, now offering eco-friendly boards.
Urban skateboarders are being encouraged with clothing, footwear and skateboard options which are easier on the environment without sacrificing the cool factor.
At the San Diego trade show, Planet Earth exhibited a complete line of clothing including board shorts made from recycled plastic bottles. Brands from Volcom to Etnies showcased green clothing and footwear.
Quicksilver, the largest US maker of surf wear, recently launched an organic line of T-shirts.
Global companies like Nike and Levi Strauss & Co are increasing use of organic cotton, while Wal-Mart Stores, world's biggest retailer, is selling baby clothes made from organic cotton.
