Pakistan: Value-added sector of textiles forms forum

On the initiative of Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PRGMEA), four leading associations in the value-added sector of textile have formed the Pakistan Apparel Forum with wider objective of fighting with influential spinning and weaving sector of the country.

Chairmen of PRGMEA, Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association, Pakistan Knitwear and Sweater Exporters Association and Pakistan Cotton Fashion Apparels Association met on Wednesday to form the Joint Apparel Forum. The forum would represent a host of problems related to the apparels industry to fight a survival war in highly competitive era. The next meeting of the forum is due on December 13.

A statement said that the Pakistan Apparels Forum is established to work on the Apparels Vision 2010 (Short term) and Apparels Vision 2025 (Long term). The other objectives include formation of an apparel board in the concerned ministry and representation in the newly formed Trade Development Authority of Pakistan.
