PKN ORLEN has been awarded the title, “Best of European Business”, in the Merger & Acquisition (M&A) category of the European ranking.
The award followed the acquisition of the Lithuanian Mazeikiu Nafta in 2006, Poland’s biggest international investment ever. In November 2007 PKN ORLEN won the Polish title “Best of European Business”, which allowed the company to compete for the international award.
The international survey is conducted by Roland Berger Strategy Consultants across eight EU members: Belgium, France, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Great Britain, Italy and Poland.
“Victory in the European final makes us feel very proud. We are pleased that the acquisition completed by PKN ORLEN has been recognised by international experts. Over the last three years PKN ORLEN acquired Unipetrol, in the Czech Republic, which marked a turning point in the development of the Company. Thanks to investment in Mazeikiu Nafta, we were able to compete for the position of the regional leader” – said Piotr Kwnacki, CEO of PKN ORLEN.
The award ceremony was held on 21st February 2008 in Brussels.
