Carvico SpA, a company founded in 1962 by Mr. Giuseppe Colnaghi and currently headed by his wife, Mrs. Laura Colnaghi Calissoni, is world leader in the production of warp-knit fabrics for swimmwear, sportswear and outwear; on the international textile scene it has always stood out for its efficiency, modernity and innovation. The company employs 347 staff members and in 2007 its turnover was approximately 102 million Euros, two thirds of which coming from export activities.
For more than 40 years, Carvico has been applying its philosophy of constantly achieving new targets and today it is ready to take up the challenge of emerging markets, with the set up of a new production plant in Vietnam, for which no equipment delocalization is scheduled from Italy to Asia. With an allocated investment of 27 million US dollars, the new factory will be built on an area of over 40,000 sq.m., and it will include warping, knitting and dyeing departments.
The plant, expected to start its activity at the end of June 2009, will have independent managers, as well as sales and technical staff, it will employ only Vietnamese personnel for a total 150 staff members and will aim at producing 20 million meters of fabric a year, targeting the retention of the middle segment of the Asian local markets.
Carvico SpA is leader of a textile group comprising Jersey Lomellina SpA and Eurojersey SpA The group has a total turnover of approximately 220million Euros, employing 631 persons. The secret of Carvico's success has distant origins: it stems from a watchful eye on its long time experience and from a careful consideration of traditional values, necessary factors that lead to top quality, up-to-date products, already projected into the future.
A future that is not so far, thanks to the professional competence of the R&D Unit, and to the importance given to state-of-the-art technologies as well as to the purchase of ever more sophisticated equipments. Besides promoting and protecting the Italian know-how by choosing to produce 100% Made in Italy, Carvico is able to manage its global trade thanks to its 3 strategically located hubs (in Hong Kong, Australia and India), and this makes the company competitive on fast growing markets, just as the Asian one.
The commitment to a production that aims not only to economic, but also to ecologic and social goals, is the guideline behind Green Vision, Carvico's code of ethics: eco-sustainable thinking means indeed transforming the whole production into an eco-friendly process.
