The REI Shuksan (men’s) and Kulshan (women’s) jackets with eVent fabric have been selected as a top 10 Gear of the Year pick for 2008 by the GearJunkie.com. Additionally, the REI Shuksan has also been recognized as an award winner by Men’s Journal magazine. The high-performance jacket is co-branded by REI and eVent, and is available nationwide at REI retail stores and online at rei.com.
The REI Shuksan and Kulshan jackets were announced in January of 2008 and have been available for sale since August. Since their introduction, the jackets have been recognized for their use of the new, breakthrough eVent fabrics’ waterproof-breathable capabilities, as well as for their availability and affordability.
“Both customers and reviewers alike have been impressed with the phenomenal, highly waterproof and breathable performance of these jackets,” said Tim Brown, product line manager for REI Gear & Apparel. “We’re honored to receive recognition from two well-respected gear connoisseurs.”
Men’s Journal, a magazine focused on the best gear for adventurous, outdoor men, selected the REI Shuksan jacket as a Gear of the Year pick for being a “well-designed shell at a great price.” The jacket appears as part of “The Perfect System” gear picks in the December issue of the publication.
Nationally-syndicated newspaper columnist and industry blogger Stephen Regenold, also known to his readers as “The Gear Junkie,” has selected the REI Shuksan and Kulshan jackets as products that “stood out as best-of-the-best from the dozens of products reviewed in 2008 for the Gear Junkie column,” which runs weekly in a dozen newspapers around the U.S. and online at its website.
