France: Premiere Vision announces award winning fabrics

The suspense is over. The four winning fabrics have been chosen and the companies who produced them revealed :
The Grand Jury Prize 2009 is awarded to the Italian weaver, Ratti.
The Handle Prize is awarded to the Japanese Showa.
The Innovation Prize is awarded to the Japanese Iwanaka.
As to The Imagination Prize, it is awarded to the Swiss Jakob Schlaepfer.
On, Friday 18 September 2009, at noon, Véronique Nichanian (Hermès) president of the jury unveiled the list of winners. The announcement took place at the heart of Première Vision in the General Forum to an attentive audience.
Earlier in the day, the jury, comprised of nine international fashion personalities, held their final meeting. There were 62 competing fabrics, following a first selection carried out in early September among the samples sent by the 700 exhibitors for the autumn winter 2010-11 season.
As a tangible sign of their distinction, the award winning textile producers, each received a trophy: a “Fractal Flower”, a sculpture made using stereolithography by Miguel Chevalier, a pioneer in digital and virtual artworks.
Created by Première Vision, the World’s Premier fabric show, the PV Awards are aimed at distinguishing and rewarding textile excellence. The second edition of the PV Awards will take place in September 2010.
