Fast Retailing which owns the Uniqlo casual wear chain and which has only one outlet in the US, located in New York is mulling opening more in the city as soon as possible. This was revealed by Tadashi Yanai, Chairman and President of Fast Retailing.
He also revealed plans of opening more stores in different countries and plans to generate four-fold more turnover from its overseas operations than from its domestic sales in its home country; Japan.
He laid particular stress on the markets stretching across from China to India which together had a population exceeding 3.5 billion and said that Asia had the greatest potential and which could mean a valuable source of revenue for the company.
Delving on European markets, he said, his company would open outlets in Germany and Spain in the near future. Tadashi Yanai has been named ‘International Retailer of the Year’ for establishing his company’s Uniqlo casual wear as a global brand.
