In October Feuerwear will release a limited edition of 30 handpainted graffiti bags that have been painted by famous Berlin streetartist El Bocho.
From used firehose, Feuerwear makes innovative bags. This summer, Feuerwear brings together streetart and streetwear in an unprecedented fashion. Feuerwear has invited famous streetartist EL Bocho to use firehose as a new medium. Feuerwear will create a limited edition of 30 bags out of El Bocho firehose paintings.
El Bocho's original firehose artwork will be shown from July 1st - 31st 2009 at Berlin's streetart festival Urban Affairs extended, located at Gerichtsstrasse 65, Stattbad Wedding. The exclusive art bags can be purchased exclusively at feuerwear.com from October on.
El Bocho moved form Frankfurt am Main to Berlin few years ago and he made an artistic switch from graffiti to Street art. Professionally, as a graphic student, he creates typography and posters for public sphere. His nickname is a reminiscence of his long stay in Spain. It is a variation on his name, which in Mexican Spanish means something similar to “little donkey”
Since 2003, El Bocho has been working mostly under “Little Lucy” pseudonym. It is an amusing and funny character, which makes the Street art scene a bit more radiant. The inspiration came from “Lucy – streets bugaboo” - 70’s TV series from Czech Republic. It is full of black humor, mostly in the scenes where Lucy takes many creative actions to bully his kitty… More on that you can find in the book “Little Lucy – the Berlin street bugaboo”, published by El Bocho, with lots of illustrations, poems and stories…
In the main, El Bocho works with big format cut outs, but he also uses stencils and lately he started to create on tiles, which can be much longer lasting alternative for the classical canvas. Parallel, he works on the new poster technique which should create a bridge between art and nature. He allows the poster paper to be influenced by the sun and precipitation, so that it can get a touch of a bit grimy surface. Than he adds the color and structure into it and again leaves the poster outside. That is how the nature takes part in preparation of the piece of art. This innovative technique put a new impulse for the Street art development and discovered totally new potential in that artistic trend.
Feuerwear (feuerwear.com) makes bags and accessories from recycled firehose. Every Feuerwear product is a unique piece with its own individual story. Before their reincarnation as a bag, belt or wallet, they helped firefighters to save lives for many years. They were dragged through soot, grease and mud, in extreme heat and fire, and had to transport thousands of cubic meters of water. Its previous service with fire fighting teams makes every Feuerwear product a one-of-a-kind piece.
