Speaking at last week’s Techtextil show in Frankfurt, Managing Director Mehmet Agrikili explained that his company was developing, “The world’s fastest and highest acceleration linear servo motor for winding yarns in different geometries which was simple, precise and very fast in operation”. A demonstrator was exhibited at the front of the company’s booth which was most impressive and attracted a lot of attention from visitors. Agrikili said that there had been a lot of interest from leading machinery manufacturers in the sector.
The ‘linear motor project’, as it was referred to, has multiple applications as a traveller in winding and twisting machinery, Agrikili added. The project has been supported by TUBITAK, the Scientific & Technological Research Council of Turkey and by TTGV, the Technology Development Foundation of Turkey. Mr Agrikili stressed that the invention was still in the development stage but hoped that it could be applied to the company’s products in the not too distant future.
The demonstrator appeared to be a simple shaft mounted with a ring which moved back and forth at high speed. The invention was labelled with the following specification:

New DirecTwist-2C
Agteks also demonstrated for the first time, its DirecTwist-2C multi-function twisting machine for superior performance in twisting needs for technical yarns in a single process. The machine can run at speeds up to 14000 twists per minute at 2000 twists per metre on a range of yarns from 10 denier to 5000 denier with up to 8 plies.
Mehmet Agrikili said: “This machine can be used for processing Kevlar, polyester, Dynema, carbon fibre, glass fibre along with nylon, Lycra, polypropylene, cotton and acrylic.” Agrikili added: “We have developed an innovative drive mechanism to perform cabling, twisting or covering in a single operation.”
Tye DirecTwist -2C has a newly developed ultralight yarn feeder with internal clutch force which helps avoid dynamic friction on the yarn. The winding drum is also optimized for technical yarns and is ceramic coated. Turning lower and upper plates are synchronised to prevent lateral friction on the yarn and Agteks says the machine produces precise package shapes and has a stable mechanism for heavy packages.
