State officials will answer chromite mining questions

The Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries will answer questions tonight about the permitting process related to Oregon Resources Corp.'s chromite mining operation.
DOGAMI Assistant Director Gary Lynch will attend the 6:30 p.m. meeting in the council chambers at Coos Bay City Hall.
The meeting is taking place at the request of the Coos County commissioners. Commissioner Kevin Stufflebean said the commissioners would like to know more about the permitting and monitoring processes. It is only an informational meeting, and no action will be taken.
"We just want to know who is going to be monitoring what and what the process is," Stufflebean said.
