Apr. 23, 2010 - According to statistics, China exported 53,358 mt of silicon metal in Mar, an increase of 69.9% compared with 31,398 mt of Feb, and increased by 188.9% against 18,467 mt of the same period a year ago. China's total exports of silicon metal in Q1 reached 126,293 mt, up 163.8% compared with 47,871 mt of the same period one year earlier.Japan imported 15,333 mt of Chinese silicon metal in Mar, and 40,431 mt for Q1, up 291% compared with 10,333 mt of the same period one year ago; imports of South Korea in Mar were 6,192 mt, and 14,478 mt for Q1, up 150% compared with 5,788mt; imports of India in Mar were 3,250 mt, and 6,101 mt for Q1, up 52.1% compared with 4,010 mt. Besides, England's imports of Chinese silicon metal were only 3,072mt in Mar, but 10,404 mt for Q1, while 44 mt for the total imports of Q1 2009.Chinese silicon metal price increase sharply in Apr so that oversea buyers show little interest in it, so export market of silicon metal is expected to be calm this month. However, demands from other countries show obvious increase, silicon metal market in Q2 is anticipated to continue to rebound.
