Trakya Cam, Saint-Gobain sign deal to produce glass in Russia

Apr. 27, 2010 - Trakya Cam Sanayii, a leading company in the flat glass industry in Turkey, and Saint-Gobain Sekurit, one of the leading glass manufacturers of the world, signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a 50-50 partnership to produce and sell automotive glass in Russia.
Trakya Cam first announced on Feb. 16 that the company was conducting joint studies with Saint-Gobain to produce flat glass and automotive glass in Russia. The memorandum was signed Monday within the framework of those studies, according to a statement released by Trakya Cam late Monday.
Trakya Cam and Saint-Gobain Sekurit will establish a flat glass production facility, in the Republic of Tatarstan, a part of the Russian Federation. The facility, which will be operational in 2013, is only part of the investments planned for the region. The flat glass production facility will be constructed next to a 500,000 vehicle parts production facility, which will also become operational in 2013, according to the company's statement.
