BEIJING, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- The following are some Chinese cultural news items in brief:

SW CHINA TO HOLD INTERNATIONAL FOOD, TOUR FESTIVAL

Southwest China's Sichuan Province will hold the 7th International Food and Tour Festival Sunday in its capital city Chengdu, which was named "City of Gastronomy" by UNESCO in February.

The festival, scheduled to be held from Sunday through Oct. 20, will take place throughout 18 districts, cities or counties of the city for visitors to enjoy Sichuan Style cuisine, as well as styles of western, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Italian, and other nationalities, said Deng Gongli, deputy secretary general of Chengdu City Government.

Further, ambassadors from more than 20 countries and regions will attend the opening ceremony of the annual event on Sunday, Deng said.

The festival is organized by the China Council Fair for the Promotion of International Trade, along with the China Tourism Association and Chengdu City Government.

POSTAL MUSEUM OPENS IN NE CHINA

Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province celebrated the opening of a postal museum in Harbin, capital city of the province, on Saturday.

The Heilongjiang Postal Museum, covering an area of 3,290 square meters, is located at the former Jihei Postal Management Bureau Building, which was built in 1922.

The museum showcases the postal history of the province by displaying cultural relics, photos, models, simulated scenes, and modern virtual technologies.

SEA CUCUMBER MUSEUM OPENS IN NE CHINA

The Dandong Arirang Sea Cucumber Museum opened Saturday in Dandong City of northeast China's Liaoning Province.

The museum, with a total area of 600 square meters, boasts being the world's largest professional museum for sea cucumbers, said Li Changqing, a marine biologist at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

It includes more than 220 major sea cucumber specimens from all over the world, Li said.
