On September 9, co-hosted by ITC, CCPIT, MOFCOM and the Chongqing Municipal Government, the 11th World Export Development Forum was opened in Chongqing. The theme of this forum was 'Adapting to Post-Crisis World Trade Patterns, and Lessons for Export Development'.
Bo Xilai, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Party Secretary of Chongqing, met with foreign guests before the forum and attended the opening ceremony of the forum as well as the welcome dinner banquet organized by the Chongqing government. WTO Secretary General Pascal Lamy, UNCTAD Secretary General Supachai Panitchpakdi, China s Vice Minister of Commerce Yi Xiaozhun, CCPIT Vice Chairman Wang Jinzhen , and Chongqing Mayor Huang Qifan, attended and addressed the opening ceremony. The ceremony was chaired by Ms. Patricia R. Francis, the Executive Director of ITC.
CCPIT Vice Chairman Wang Jinzhen said he hoped that after the forum, representatives present there could conduct in-depth analysis and exchanges concerning the global trade pattern in the post-crisis period, and measures and means to boost export. For years, CCPIT had close cooperation with ITC and had already launched many projects of cooperation. CCPIT would continue to enhance cooperation with ITC, further the exchanges between China s trade promotion organizations and their foreign counterparts.
Being one of the most important annually held activities by ITC, the World Export Development Forum centers on topics that are in close relation to the competitiveness of developing economies and aims to provide suggestions and help for these economies effective export development strategies. As the forum s coordinator in China, CCPIT has helped to sponsor all the previous editions.
This forum attracted export and trade promotion departments from 59 countries and regions in the world and the attendance of 322 business leaders.
