CCPIT Chairman Wan Jifei Attended the Second Chongqing-Taiwan Week Activities

From November 17 to 19, CCPIT Chairman Wan Jifei attended the Second Chongqing-Taiwan Week activities and inspected work on CCPIT Chongqing sub-council and CIETAC sub-council in southwestern China.

On November 18, Chairman Wan attended and addressed the opening ceremony of the Second Chongqing-Taiwan Week activities &Chongqing-Taiwan Trade Fair. Bo Xilai, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Party Secretary of Chongqing, Wang Yi, Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Chen Yunlin, Chairman of Association for Relations Across the TaiwanStraits, Huang Qifan, Mayor of Chongqing, and Wang Zhigang, President of Taipei World Trade Center, made presence in the opening ceremony.

Chairman Wan pointed out that as the gateway of China s southwestern region, Chongqing would be the ideal first stop for Taiwan businessmen who would like to explore the market in western China. He also said that CCPIT would continue to give full play to its advantages in serving for enterprises across the straits and boost their trade and economic exchanges and cooperation.

On November 18, the Cross-Straits Enterprises Cooperation Conference was held in Chongqing. In his remarks, Chairman Wan highlighted the significance of the signing of ECFA and summarized the status quo of cross-straits economic and trade exchanges. He said that enterprises should size the great opportunities brought about by the signing of ECFA, actively exploit complementary advantages of economies on two sides of the strait, and tap into new cooperation areas.

Chairman Wan and Mayor Huang also attended the signing ceremony of the framework agreement concerning CIETAC sub-council in southwestern China established jointly by CCPIT and Chongqing government. They later inspected work on Chongqing Liangjiang New Area.
