China stock index futures open lower Monday

China's stock index futures opened lower Monday, with the contract for settlement in June, which is most actively traded, opened at 2,700.0, falling from 2,761.0.
The contract expiring in July opened at 2,712.0, lower from the 2,777.0 points.
The September contract opened at 2,753.8, down from 2,811.2 points from the previous trading day, while the December contract open at 2,790.2, down from the 2,853.6.
The stock-index contracts, agreements to buy or sell the Hushen 300 Index at a present value on an agreed date, are designed to allow investors to bet on and profit from both gains and declines in the market.
The index futures was launched at the China Financial Futures Exchange (CFFEX) and started trading from April 16, 2010. The CFFEX has set the base value for all the four contracts at 3,399 points.
