Japanese stocks opened sharply lower Wednesday morning on a stronger yen against the dollar.
In the first 15 minutes of trading, the benchmark Nikkei-225 index lost 108.31 points, or 1.13 percent, from Tuesday to 9,442. 74.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 8.98 points, or 1.05 percent, to 845. 70. The Second Section dropped.
