Net capital outflow from Russia in first eight months of the year amounted to 12 billion U.S. dollars, Russian Central Bank Chairman Sergei Ignatiev told the State Duma on Friday.
The main outflow occurred in January, said Ignatiev, adding in the first half of 2010, the net capital outflow amounted to 10.2 billion dollars.
Earlier the Central Bank predicted that net capital outflow for the whole year will amount to 8.7 billion U.S. dollars, down from 56.9 billion dollars in 2009.
However, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Andrei Klepach said in late August that the net capital outflow for 2010 would be 10 billion dollars, given the negative effects of the heatwaves and drought this summer upon Russian capital flows.
