Japanese stocks opened higher Thursday as the yen retreated from a 15-year high.
In the first 15 minutes of trading, the benchmark Nikkei-225 index rose 81.98 points, or 0.91 percent, from Wednesday to 9,106. 58.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 5.76 points, or 0.70 percent, to 826. 75. The Second Section edged lower.
