Chinese side Tianjin Teda has now risen to the top of Group E in this year's Asian Football Champions League, with Cao Yang's second-half penalty clinching a hard-fought, 2-1 home win over Japan's Gamba Osaka.
Both sides had been looking to consolidate their position in the group after respective opening victories.
Chen Tao's long-range strike put the hosts ahead at the 24 minutes mark, before Lee Keun-ho equalized later in the first half.
Chen then earned a penalty for Tianjin six minutes into the second half, allowing Cao Yang to put his side ahead for good.
Elsewhere in Group G, Shandong Luneng fell to South Korea's Jeonbuk Motors 1-nil, with midfielder Park Won-jae scoring winning header in the 60th minute.
