Mourinho Thanks Real Madrid President Perez for Support

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho this Sunday publicly thanked club President Florentino Perez for the support he has given him this weekend.
Saturday saw Real Madrid cruise to an easy win over relegation haunted Hercules thanks to two goals from Karim Benzema. It also saw Perez back Mourinho up over the coach's criticism of the Spanish fixture calendar.
Mourinho continues to insist, despite all evidence pointing to the contrary, that the Spanish Football League is doing its best to help rivals FC Barcelona lift the BBVA Primera Liga trophy by allowing the Catalan side more time to rest than Real Madrid.
Saturday saw Perez explain that Mourinho's campaign was done to defend the club's interests against what he considers to be an injustice and the coach was grateful for the support.
"A great club needs a great coach, but the great coaches are only great if there is a great club behind them and it is important for me to have the President giving me his support. With my players, the fans and the directors behind me, I will be willing to do anything," said Mourinho.
Mourinho also looked ahead to Wednesday's Champions League clash at home to Olympic Lyon where his side have the chance to reach the last eight of that competition for the first time in seven years.
"Every game I fail to win is a serious blow and there are many of those throughout the career of a coach. You can't always win or reach the semi-finals," he warned.
"It will be a difficult game on Wednesday and we have to be at our best because Lyon is a good side and knocking us out last year could give them a psychological boost," said Mourinho who repeated his call for the fans to give their full support to the side.
Mourinho also gave a vote of confidence to Benzema, who has now scored four goals in a week,
"He is better than ever and he is doing things that he never used to do. He is happy, with Cristiano Ronaldo and (Gonzalo) Higuain out of action he has scored four goals and helped us to get seven important points," he said.
